Love, Mae

I'm been feeling really sick since last night. Fever and flu can be such a lethal combination especially when you have a busy week up ahead...but I'm really proud of myself for dragging myself out of bed to attend a Media lecture at 9 this morning. I've also managed to head down to my local post office to collect my parcels (as well as to mail out a parcel to an eBay buyer).

I've this thing for pretty stuff and I guess those wall decals that I've ordered from Love Mae last week kinda perked me up when I received them today. I seriously can't wait to start decorating my room (in Singapore, that is...since I'll be leaving Melbourne in about two months' time). They're sooooo pretty! Not quite convinced? Okay check out these pictures:

I love the fact that even the postage stamp's in a form of a heart (as in, LOVE, geddit?)

In case you're (still) wondering what Love Mae is basically is/about or what they offer, it's basically an Aussie site that sells pretty wall decals, stickers, dinnerware, wrapping paper and even bedding. They have a wonderful collection of wall decals so feel free to pop by www.lovemae.com.au and start shopping! (Though I gotta admit that their prices are kinda on the high side (I'm a poor Communications student to begin with...so thats probably not a valid statement) but I guess it's pretty much justifiable if you're talking about wall decals that are made of adhesive fabric and that can be easily removable and reusable. Probably another reason why their kids range is a huge favorite among parents). *Also note that the last three images are taken from Love Mae's official site.

And as for the second parcel that I collected today...it's my new Velvet dress from Mink Pink! :D I spotted this girl wearing a velvet dress the other day while I was out with my friends for brunch and I was like 'dayummmm I need one as well.' I mean, velvet dress + tights + boots make such a rad combination. And yes, I really love velvet. Bought a velvet dress from American Apparel in March and I absolutely love the way it glides along your body and plus, I love the velvet feel.

Clothing tag is now up on my wall

Ok, I'm signing off now cos I'm sneezing as if I'm gonna drop dead. Adieus!

The Big Issue

Uh, I've managed to convince my New Yorker cousin to help me with some purchases from American Apparel, since it's way cheaper in the States as compared to Aussie. Though I can't decide if I should get the Disco Pant or the Riding Pant. I love the Disco Pant (excusez-moi, it's basically lust at first sight) but alas, the thought of walking around in a sparkly jeggings-ish looking outfit doesn't seem to entirely goes well with me. And then i saw this picture of the Riding Pant. Which. Basically. Nailed. It. All.

Before I sign off (and start making my online purchases), this is what I ate for brunch earlier today. Aptly named after traditional female Japanese performers (Memoirs of a Geisha, anyone?), the 'Geisha' consists of black and white sesame-crusted tuna steak along with wasabi mash. Wow, wasabi mash - thats mash potato in a whole new level (YES, I'm a sucker for anything potato).

Place we went to: Twenty & Six Espresso, along 594 Queensberry Street, North Melbourne

Say A Little Prayer

I love Sundays. It's the day where I get to meet my favorite people at church and chill with them. Sunday Best much? *laughs. Anyway I was lucky enough that it started to rain and hail only after I got home. And to think the weather was so sunny earlier on! But then again, this is Melbourne we're talking about. You get to experience four seasons in a day and I'm not even kidding. Weather from tomorrow onwards is gonna be cold cold cold, which probably means time to bring out the tights, jeans and booties. But that said, I've finally managed to upload pictures of my recent Sydney getaway, though I'll probably blog about Sydney sometime this week.

But before I sign off with a huge ta!, I've managed to squeeze in a couple of amateur self-timer shots of my outfit today. I've been lusting after this pair of two-sided Nylon-Mesh leggings since 2010 ever since American Apparel became a favorite brand of mine (sheer mesh + shiny opaque nylon = très chic et sexy!) But alas, leggings cost AUD76 on the Aussie site (and nope, the US site does not ship to Australia). I love AA for their quality, comfort and designs but seriously, $76 for a pair of leggings is tad too much. Well, but I've managed to lay hands on not one - but two of these leggings when I realised AA is selling them for just $15! Apparently they made too many of these tights in XS and phew, guess I was really lucky! I was kinda apprehensive at first about the sizing. Even though I'm pretty much a skinny person, I'm really bottom heavy. I'm a UK8 for my bottom and an XS doesn't seems to be an optimum size for me. It probably doesn't help when I opened my parcel and started pondering to myself if it makes sense that I can actually squeeze my thighs and butt into such a small pair of leggings. But woman, it's spandex! And nylon! Which makes it pretty stretchable. I also love the part that the mesh part reminds me of fishnet stockings, albeit this is the non-trashy and classier version. It's a pretty unique pair of leggings. Ok, I should seriously stop rambling and show you guys pictures. Pardon the amateurish shots though as I've too much girl pride to ask my cold, unfriendly and unfeeling  sister (kidding) to help me with a decent full-body shot.

LOVELORN

Well, you guys might know that I'm in a long-distance relationship. I've been with my boyfriend for almost two years and I must say, even though we have loads of bickering sessions and little petty fights, we still love each other dearly. It's never easy for one to be in a LDR, and for that, I salute those whose long-distance relationships are successful. Technically speaking, my parents themselves are in a LDR as well. Dad's stationed in HK and occasionally flies to Milan, while mum is well, mum in Singapore.

I'm actually writing this cos I miss my boyfriend of two years dearly. I sent him off at the airport this morning (he boarded the 7AM flight from Melbourne to Auckland) and it has indeed been a long day for me. Thank God I didn't cry at the airport this time round (bonus points for me!!! :> ), though my tears started streaming down when I got home. It'll be just a month more before I get to see him again and for that, I can't wait to look forward to 4th July.

Picture taken by the boyfriend when we were out at Brunwick the other day. Im wearing a Zara coat, black shiny matt skirt from Supre, tights from American Apparel and black ankle booties with shear lining from Topshop.

Speaking of Brunswick, omg it's awesome!! The boyfriend loves it there and so do I. Loads of vintage stores (still can't find Savers though!) and off-beaten shops with quirky little finds. Very different from the ones at Bourke Street Mall, I must say. This is my fourth time there and when my allowance comes in, I'm so gonna explore the streets there and (literally) shop til' I drop.

I guess thats all for now, cos my head hurts and I'm pretty much in low spirits today. But that said, if you are in a LDR yourself, or if you were to know of any successful LDR coupling, pray tell! :) It'll be nice to give someone like me hope to hang in there <3

LE DISCO PANT (et TOMS)

I was so proud of myself for not doing any online shopping (even though I did attempt to by looking poring through some of my favourite sites) since April. Checked my mail last night and found a mail from American Apparel (Australia). Apparently they're having a hosiery and socks sale so heh heh yours truly helped myself to some nice tights (I'm a big fan of tights by the way. They look so sophisticated with ankle boots, flats and booties during winter. Love love them!) and then, I suddenly had the urge to take a good look at the Disco Pant again. I had the biggest crush on the Disco Pant since last year, but what put me off from purchasing one pair is the huge-ass price. Seriously, 125AUD for a pair of shiny nylon pants? But I don't deny they are indeed a showstopper :)

My fave color! :) See how awesome it looks! Makes me so tempted to get a pair right now grrrr

Kill me please. DISCO PANT= LUST-WORTHY

Speaking of which, I got myself my first pair of TOMS shoes last night!! :) For those who don't know, TOMS was basically started by this an American dude who travelled to Argentina and was startled that most of the poverty-stricken kids there do not even own a pair of shoe. And thus, thats how TOMS came about. For every pair of shoe that is purchased by you or anyone else, the company will donate a new pair of shoes to a kid in need. It's basically fashion cum charity. The shoes reminds me of keds, but what I really like is the idea of helping someone and being able to get yourself a new nice reward at the end of the day. TOMS' is also very much a big hit among celebrities too - Keira Knightley, Miley Cyrus, Liv Tyler, the Olsen twins, Anna Kubrick and model Agyness Denn are some of the famous faces that have been seen wearing them.

I got myself a TOMS classic canvas which retails for US$44 and I got mine in Olive. My sis thought the colour was awful (she got hers in Navy) while the Boyfriend thinks Olive is a pretty unique colour as compared to Ash grey (my first choice). Heh heh I guess I'll probably have to wait for my parcel to arrive before I could say if I made the right choice, but till then, fingers crossed!
