I'm back! xxx

I know I haven't updating this blog for some time...but hell yeah, I'm back! :) I've been pretty busy since my last blog entry (being a PR Girl is serious business after all). But till then, here are some random snapshots of what I've been up to since then:

My OOTD one lazy Sunday - I frigging LOVE this Mango cardigan (it reminds me of Chanel's Tweed jackets! And plus I've always wanted a semi-formal cardigan, so here goes). That's also my trusty old Chanel that I've been toting around since I was 18 hahaha. Old school classic indeed.

Marina Bay Sands - Snapped this while the laser display lights were out when I was at the Lantern Bar at Fullerton Bay Hotel last month for a cocktail party. It's just one of those affirming moments when I'm proud to tell others that this beautiful city is a place where I call home.

Equinox Restaurant: A nice Saturday lunch with the boyfriend last month.

One of my favorite quotes ever. Pasted this inside my planner too - to remind myself that it's ok whenever I feel immensely guilty after splurging on a luxe item.

The Script concert on 29 March - I'm not exactly a huge fan of them, but i love a couple of their songs and the guy I'm with totally loves them so... yeah.

Stay

I know this blog's been pretty dead...but there is a good reason to it (trust me) - I've been slogging really hard ever since I started work at a PR agency last month. It's my first job ever and I'm actually learning quite a lot, so there isn't much about my life (or outfit updates hahaha, not that I attempt to do a lookbook-worthy entry most of the time anyway). Loads has happened over the course of my last blog entry and now - got my first paycheck (YES!!!! shopping time!), turned 23, grew more curves and yes, got attached to some random nice guy who is also from the PR industry. But that said, here are some pictures courtesy of yours truly:

ASOS Sonic Pointed Heels - I've always wanted to get a pair of pointed heels ever since my pointed stilettos broke. And ankle strap heels + kitten heels are pretty much the trend 'tis season (what, you need more convincing? OK, just check out Christopher Bailey's Burberry Fall 2013 - the British luxury house sent its models streaming down the runway in demure kitten heels). Besides, walking around in heels all day aren't doing my feet any favor. I'm totally diggin' the heels and I love the fact that you can dress them up with corporate wear, or wear them down for your everyday errand run. I can't wait for them to arrive - 11 March, please come forth!

ASOS Salon Floral Bandeau Dress - This was my OFTD for this year's Lunar New Year. And yes, I pretty much have a thing for everything floral. (And in case you're wondering, I got this cute cat hanger from Urban Outfitters. Tres chic et cute!)

Celine Luggage Tote: My favorite bag at the moment. 'Nuff said.

H&M Brocade Pant: This was on my wish list for X'mas last year and nope, my Secret Santa didn't hear me. But note to self: do get yourself a pair of printed pants!

My workstation: It was my third day of work; I had nothing much to do but here's my sister's trusty old Balenciaga and notebook (told ya I love pretty things)

Stylestalker Panther Lace Pant - I love lace and this is probably the sexiest lace number I've ever laid my eyes on. Just ordered it online and I can't wait for it to arrive in the mail. Fingers crossed that it fits though (since Stylestalker is known for its smaller-than-usual sizes).

P.S: I've been playing Rihanna's Stay on repeat. And yes, I do think that's probably her best single ever from her latest studio album, Apologetic.

Celine Luggage

I know I used to blog incessantly about the Celine Box Bag but after bumping into a girl at uni last May (with a classic black Luggage no-less), I'm now literally besotted with the Luggage tote. Otherwise known as the Boston tote, the Luggage tote is created by the current Creative Director of Celine - Phoebe Philo (God, I LOVE her. She's one of my favorite designers. Can anyone say minimalist chic much?). Philo is also the brains behind some of fashion's most desired and well-coveted it bags - the Paddington (Chloe) and yes, the Box shoulder and this season's favorite arm candy, the Celine Trapeze.

Look at the red edge detail on the luggage!

That aside, I've managed to obtain my very own Celine baby! <3 I literally had a hard time looking for one. Apparently the classic black luggage is a very popular model - I was told I have to wait for some 4-6 months on the waiting list for new arrivals. So it was a godsend indeed when my dad told me he has managed to find the last piece of this leather baby. And just so y'know, the luggage bag comes in five different sizes. I've gotten this info from the friendly sales supervisor at the Celine boutique in Singapore:

Nano - 20 x 20 cm
Micro - 26 x 26 cm
Mini - 30 x 30 cm
Shoulder - 30 x 37 cm
Medium - 38 x 40 cm

Note: The Medium is really huge (it's basically a traveling bag). Popular designs/models are the micro and mini. My luggage tote is the mini.

Justin Timberlake x Jessica Biel Are Married!

Congrats to the newlyweds! (Yes they are one of my favorite Hollywood couples)

P.S. Can't wait for pictures - I'm (still) wondering about the new missus' choice of wedding gown.  According to previous reports, it's most probably an Elie Saab gown.

In a nutshell;

My reading material for the week

When I decided that I wanted to pursue a career within the Public Relations industry, friends and loves ones would never fail to bombard me with, 'So what exactly is PR?'

Sometimes it's hard to put it into words... I mean, everyone knows PR translates to generating press coverage and publicity for the brand that you're presenting (which probably explains the why the word 'public' is there in the very first instance, duh). But I think nycgirls probably summed it up best here.

Another favorite question? What do PR practitioners do? Well, media monitoring (to ensure that your brand receives (sufficient) press coverage), media pitching and press releases, event planning, crisis communications and campaign building. Of course, that's not it. PR executives have to build a good working relationship with members from the Press, considering that we work closely with the media. And then there's the client side as well.

I was pretty much on geek mode today and decided to head down to the nearest bookstore for some PR material (well, it's always good to read up about the industry). And this analogy totally summed up what PR is all about:

"If a boy meets a girl and impresses upon her how wonderful he is...that's Advertising.

But if the girl seeks him out because she has heard from others what a splendid fellow he is...that's Public Relations."

Ben Whishaw

I seriously must have a thing for underrated yet very talented performers (how oxymoronic) of their time - a la Cillian Murphy. I probably also have a thing for actors who don't look like the typical Hollywood hearttrobs, with pretty features and uber cool slicky hair. Zac Efron? Rob Patz anyone? I seriously think Ben Whishaw is one of the finest actor of his generation and yes, a pretty cool and unconventional-looking one at that.

Yes, granted he ain't that tall (1.75m or 5'9, for the record) and he does come across as scrawny waifish but dude has this amazing charisma about him. I mean, there must be a reason why he was handpicked as Q in the upcoming James Bond film. And plus, he looks good in both modern and period dramas...

I LOVE him in Bright Star. He was so brilliant and amazing as John Keats (though he totally creeped me out in Perfume: The Story of a Murderer - but then again, thats what good actors do. They are able to immerse themselves into different characters and I guess if someone does a really good job in making you like them and abhor their absolute presence in another, I guess thats considered a job well done).

By the way, if you haven't watch Bright Star, you totally should. It's a period drama by the Academy-Award winning director Jane Campion which also stars Aussie actress Abbie Cornish. It basically delves on the ill-fated love affair between the struggling poet Keats and his one true love Fanny Brawne. Expect to tear at the end of the movie. I watched it during a flight to Melbourne and I was trying so hard to contain my tears so that the dude beside me wouldn't think I've gone bonkers. I can still remember the scene where Fanny Brawne broke down and collapsed into her mother's arms upon learning about Keats' death. And the part when she went 'I can't breathe' over and over again was such a haunting moment. If you need more convincing, here's the movie's trailer. Check it out, you will definitely not regret it!
