Just woke up from my afternoon nap and the latest (celebrity) headlines were all about the Timberlake/Biel split. Sigh- these two are (notice the tense!! hahaha) one of my fave celebrity couples and it's quite sad that they've decided to part ways, considering the fact that they've been together for 4 years - which is indeed an amazing feat in the drop-it-like-it's-hot culture in Hollywood. Sad, i'm sure they'll make really cute babies together.

don't talk to me
The weather in Melbourne (yeaps, thats where I'm currently based at the moment) is so insanely erratic. I touched down last Monday (technically the last day of Summer) and it was like, 15 degrees i think? And then autumn descended and it's not even a week past summer and everyone's already all decked out in boots, coats, jumpers...like whoa. Global warming i guess?
But that said, i've been studying (haha yes, pardon me for my choice of word) the weather forecast on google religiously and it says that this coming weekend will be way hotter (yay!!!), though the cool weather will set in again from tuesday onwards. And tomorrow's sunday, which means it's time to head down to church once again. I'm clueless as to what to wear to church, but I'm thinking of my vintage bell bottoms and a plain white tee with red platform wedges from Urban Outfitters. I'd earlier thought of a simple black maxi with Havianas..but then again, who wears an all-black attire and flipflops to church? Haven't you heard of the term 'sunday best'?
Anyway, I was browsing facehunter yesterday when this picture caught my eye (not that none of them not anyway).

LOVE HER SANDALS!!! I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THEM SINCE FOREVER!!!!!!

I love the fact they go well with dresses, jeans, tights and everything else in the whole entire universe. I was at Forever New@ Melbourne Central the other day when I saw one of the store assistant donning one pair too. On hindsight, i should've asked. I know some online sites do sell them, but it's either poor, cheap-looking material, soles/platforms that are way tooooo high for uni/daily wear or that it's too expensive. But it's okay i supposed, i'm still on the hunt for the perfect pair!

CHANEL
Recently received my first Chanel jewellery piece for my birthday! :) It's a gift from the Boyfriend- basically just the double C ring. Hehehehe. My mum probably thinks it's not worth paying so much for costume jewellery but i guess i just want a classic little piece? Almost 3 weeks later, I ran back to the Chanel boutique at Ngee Ann City and bought myself a pair of Chanel earrings. It's one of the design from this Spring/Summer 2011 collection and i guess i'm quite satisfied with my purchase so far :>
Anyway i'm heading out now for dinner. Had a hard time deciding if I want to settle for one of my fave maxi dresses or the new vintage (oh, how oxymoronic) bell bottoms jeans that I bought yesterday. I had a hard time looking for them and yes, I've been digging this whole 70s flare jeans look for quite some time. The only major grouse that i have? The hemlines goes way too long and thats why I'm wearing my sis' heels out today. Pairing it with the ubiquitous white tee and my all-time fave chanel 2.55 carrier and i'm all set to go. Probably post pics up if I have the time! :)

"I really feel like Anne Hathaway's character in The Devil Wears Prada"
-Quote from my fellow intern
Okay, so I realised I have not been posting for the whole month of December but HAPPY 2011 EVERYBODY (not that anyone is reading this blog anyway ahahahhaha).
Oh did I tell ya I did intern at the fashion magazine in the month of December. It was my first time interning (and at a fashion magazine at that!) and it was indeed, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I get to meet gorgeous models (and yes, they do eat) and get to be surrounded with designer clothes/shoes/bags all the time (think: Loewe, Balenciaga, Prada, Gucci, Chanel and the list goes on and on). And i also realised that while people in the fashion industry may be decked from head to toe in their Gucci, Jimmy Choos and Louboutins, they are in them simply cos it's their privilege - when you're in the fashion world, you don't have to pay full fledge prices for your designer wear cos there is such a thing as SAMPLE SALE!!! Yes, so that means, the Prada clutch from Spring/Summer 2011 may cost like a $800 in the market, but you pay for a mere $100 for it. I guess thats one of the amazing perks which these fashion peeps get to enjoy. And yes, they do receive stuff/freebies from the big brands too.
But that said, it's tough work being a fashion intern. Reporting to work at 5AM for a full-day shoot and lugging tons of designer gowns and shoes is never a breeze. There were moments when I really wanted to throw in the towel and do something like what Anna Hathaway's character in The Devil Wears Prada did when she threw her phone into the fountain at the Place de la Concorde, but who am I kidding seriously? It's all about work ethics seriously and I can't just quit on my bosses just like that. And plus, there were moments when I really enjoyed being at work - being the first to feel and admire the entire rack of the next season's clothes from the big brands as well as feeling a sense of accomplishment as the Editor does the final touch to the month's issue. And ogling at hot models? Now thats a huge bonus we're talking about.

nude awakening
I might get to intern at an internationally acclaimed fashion magazine (fingers crossed!) sometime this week, which probably explains why I was busy mixing my outfits (for the first day at work) and gazing at my reflection in the full-length mirror in my room an hour ago. Tried a couple of tops and blazers (black or grey?) but I kept one thing constant through it all, that is, my nude pumps.
I'm 167cm (or 5'6) tall and recently, I'd this huge obsession with anything that is heeled - be it heels, wedges or clogs. And that said, I got myself my first pair of nude pumps. I know they always say that black is the best neutral colour ever, simply because it's black. Black is versatile and it's easy to match black with anything (think: black on black works equally well as well). But that said, I guess I've enough of black. I have loads of black heels/stilettos, LBDs (so many that i've lost count), black bags (my boyfriend says he realised i've a closet full of black bags) and i used to paint my nails only in noir. And it probably also doesn't help that I was born with jet black hair (cos I'm an Asian, duh).
Okay so back to the nude pumps in question. I've decided to wear them cos they look so cute and 'cos it's the best way to jazz up my entire outfit. That said, I'll probably end off with a picture of Victoria Beckham in nude heels. I also chanced upon a picture of her in a pair of nude Louboutins but I really like this look of hers here. It's presentable and also on trend. I guess the nude heels really made her outfit. Imagine if she were to wear a pair of black heels. It'd be so...boring and predictable?

celebstyle
I'm sure most of us out there are largely influenced by celebrities i.e. the way they dressed, the it bags or Haute Couture outfits that they wear and carry (just a disclaimer: i'm not TOTALLY influenced by these public figures/entertainers - I dress the way I like and I know what trends work best for my body shape). But before I start yakking whats with this whole entire fixation with celebrity culture (I'm a cultural studies student), here are some celebrities whom I earnestly think work the whole fashion walk:
I don't really dig that Holmes-Cruise union (sorry, I think Brad Pitt is way hotter and better than Tom Cruise) and I'm sure most people can't comprehend what Katie Holmes sees in Tom Cruise (though I gotta admit that Suri Cruise is a pretty adorable little girl), but I gotta say that I like Katie Holmes' fashion's choices. She's the one who brought back that entire boyfriend jeans trend and she does rocked that high-waisted and high bun look really well. And it probably doesn't help that her height and slim figure helps her to pull off most outfits even she's off-duty and on Mom mode.
I don't watch The OC or any of Rachel Bilson's work, but I gotta say that this pint-sized, petite actress does have a pretty good sense of style. She does commit certain fashion boo boos, but apart from that, her style boils around casual chic yet presentable. (Note: I specially chose this pic of Bilson cos i dig that whole boyfriend jeans, blazer and clogs look. I totally love the entire outfit. If only I have some moolah for the Sam Edelman and Topshop clogs I'm currently eyeing.)
I know most people who watched 'The Hills' would probably think of Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag at first thought, but in my opinion, it's probably Whitney Port's casual chic style that has won over fans like me. I'm a huge fan of most of her outfits (read: floral dresses, blazers, oxfords) and she certainly knows her stuff. I mean, Ms Port now has her own reality spin-off (The City), interned at Teen Vogue (omg!!!) and Diane Von Furstenburg and is now a designer, having recently debuted her own fashion line.
My all-time favorite celebrity.
I like Nicole Richie simply because she's that wild, crazy party animal who is now reformed and has changed for the better. There are crazy rumors about her December wedding to Good Charlotte's Joel Madden, but Richie won fans and even new converts not only through the fact that she is now an accomplished designer (her fashion lines include Winter Kate and House of Harlow) and devoted mother to her children, she has also shed her wild child moments by simply replacing barely-out-there, loud and trashy outfits with boho chic styled fashion choices- think flowing maxi dresses, tie-dyed tees, shorts and headpieces. Oh, and I also love the way how she dons tights over shorts during winter with Louboutin boots.
Other favorite celebrities whom I love to bits ends (cos of their fashion choices) include Sienna Miller, the Olsen twins (though i gotta 'fess they are forever into that dark, edgy and grungy trend), Keira Knightley, Vanessa Hudgens (don't like her personally, but I have to admit her fashion style is pretty similar to mine), Jessica Biel and yes, Ashlee Simpson.
